Who am I?

Hello!

I am CharCharChar. You can call me Char (pronounced shar). 

I'm testing out what pronouns feel right for me. They/them is in the lead, but don't be surprised if I change my mind in the future.

DISCLAIMER: I am fascinated by "unfavorable/problematic" rhetoric such as anti-woke, "gender critical," ace elitism, and "transracial". When I discuss these views and bring up their defenses, it is to deconstruct them or to show the similarity between two arguments. 

My experience with exclusionism based on manufactured harm inspires me to be cautious of rejecting presumabely problematic identities and opinions. I am aware that by engaging with "unfavorable/problematic" ideologies, I could upset people. Their feelings are valid. There will be content warnings. 

I do not believe in believing something is problematic because someone said so. I believe in listening to the people who say something is problematic. I believe in understanding for myself why something is problematic before I treat it as such.

Call for Submissions January 2021: Stories

It's time for the  Carnival of Aros ! 🎊 The Theme: Stories Life is full of stories: the ones we tell ourselves, the ones we tell others, and the ones we are told. Stories shape perception, expectation, and the fabric of reality. Okay, I'm getting grandiose - the point is I love stories. I love stories so much I would rather talk about how they work than write them or read them 😂 . (I'm working on that.) What is a story you want to tell? What is a story you no longer believe? What is a story you feel is harmful? What kind of story do you want to see? Take this theme anywhere you want to go. Tell a story, real or fictional. Complain about a story, or a recurring theme in stories. Analyze the story line of a movie or fanfic or a podcast. Create an adoptable character sketch for another writer to use. Ace Daydreams

The March 2021 Carnival of Aces is dreams .  I love daydreaming even more than I love talking about writing. And you're right, this set up is not conducive to completing stories. But for now I'm enjoying the ride.  How characters connect with eachother in my daydreams varies. I've tapped into a dozen attraction types (yes there are a dozen or more), woven in boundary and expectation discussions, visualized hug positions and slow escalation of intimacy and breaking away and coming back together.  The bit that trips me up is - what do I want for myself? Do I want a person to sleep next to in bed? To lean against on the couch? To confide my emotional pain in? To split the chores with? To ask "how was your day"? To inform for the hundredth time how adorable my cat is? To take with me to family gatherings? I don't know.  Enjoying a daydream is a very shaky error-ridden blueprint for what would be enjoyed in reality.  In these quarantine times, I can't go out
